Obwohl Parachilnas Sitz in Barcelona liegt, reichen seine Ursprünge bis zu seinem Namensgeber, einer Geisterstadt in der Wüste Australiens. Ein zufälliger Aufenthalt dort vor Jahren inspirierte Alfredo Valero und Roman Riera zur Gründung eines Luxusbeleuchtungsunternehmens, das sich nachhaltiger Handwerkskunst verschrieben hat und von europäischen Metallschmieden, Glasbläsern, Keramikern und anderen Kunsthandwerkern unterstützt wird. Partner Alfredo, der mit namhaften modernen Designern wie Jaime Hayon und Neri & Hu zusammenarbeitet, erklärt den zielgerichteten Prozess von Parachilna: „Wir verwenden keine industriellen Techniken“, sagt er. „Alles dreht sich um Handwerkskunst, was bedeutet, dass vom Prototyping bis zur Fertigstellung viel Arbeit anfällt. Wenn wir sagen: ‚Gefällt uns nicht‘, fangen wir wieder von vorne an.“
